"Denaby" Home of Herbert Denton, Denton Road

Written on back with blue ballpoint pen: “Denaby” 1906”

“Denaby” the home of Herbert Denton, situated at Denton Road, Levin in 1906. This photograph shows the house in photograph 2000.487.0001 and the land surrounding it which was the property of Mr Denton. The padocks around the house show signs of revcent tree-felling. In the background are the foothills of the Tararua Ranges.

Port of Foxton

Inscriptions on reverse of one postcard read: “Dear Mary, How are you popping up” etc. and “Miss Mary King, Union Street, Foxton”

Inscriptions on reverse of second postcard read: “Foxton Wednesday morning: Blowing and raining all night – such a gale. Dad is not very well. Hope you are all well and the weather not so bad your side. Ma A M Hood” and ” Mr C Hood, Mangamaire, Nr Pahiatua”

Ships tied up at the Port of Foxton in early 1900s, looking south. At wharf side are the “Baden Powell”, “Chas Edward”and “Himatangi”. In the middle are the “Queen” (of the South?), “Kennedy” and the “Putiki”. On the outside are the “Gertie”, “Waverley ” and “Moa”.
