Written on back with black ballpoint pen: “This battered coach was observed by the Evening Post’s artist on occasion of last spike ceremony of Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company line, held at Otaihanga, 6 November 1886, and commemmorated [sic] by a special issue of Evening Post printed in this form.
