President Levin Red Cross 1975 - 1980
Before moving to Levin from Wellington, Mrs Gregory had five years previous association with Red Cross, first in Gisborne, where she worked with the Red Cross library branch at the public hospital. There were 1500 books, serving the whole hospital. After transferring to Wanganui, she again joined up with the Red Cross library service and worked with it for two years until the move to Wellington.
Mrs Gregory joined the Levin Red Cross in 1970 and immediately took an active part in its affairs. She was elected (the only woman) to the Reevedon home committee and at each of our monthly meetings reported on its activities.
She was appointed Vice-President of the Levin Red Cross at the annual meeting in 1974 and, on account of his illness, took Mr Usmar's place chairing the meetings in March 1975. On his resignation, she was unanimously elected President in April 1975.
Mrs Gregory had a wide association with the theatre, producing shows as well as being adjudicator at drama festivals and competition, societies and broadcasting. In every town or city in which she lived, she was active in community affairs, so bringing a wide experience to the position of President of the Levin branch.
