The Grey River Argus of 29 July 1915 reported:
Fire at Shannon.
Last night a few minutes before 8 o'clock the Albion Hotel at Shannon caught fire and the building was completely destroyed, also the furniture with the exception of a piano and a few small articles. It is "stated that the insurance is £500 on the furniture. The amount on the building is not known.
