FOHL Newsletter March 2013
- Description
Last week the FOHL held a book sale in Te Takere. Thanks to all those who helped. The venue
was a pleasant change from past locations. Many of the public commented on this.
Barbara banked nearly $1500 from the sale. We sent three boxes of books up to Foxton, for
their sales table.
During February the FOHL committee was also busy catering lunches for the training sessions
for the census workers. That also raised over $1500. Well done team!

Blue Band Brigade
All staff members are now wearing a bright blue lanyard as well as their name tags. Staff are
all friendly and happy to chat although they don’t issue your books any more. Don’t feel that
the larger space lacks the personal touch. The new staff members are just as helpful as the
ones we knew so well in the old library, but they do need time to get to know you.
Displays
Barbara Lucas looks after the displays in Te Takere. They are always interesting and show just
how many talented people there are in the Horowhenua.
Shannon library continues to display local art where Patricia White is now exhibiting her
lovely floral and scenic water colours. In April local Shannon artist Joan Strawbridge will be
displaying her vibrant acrylic paintings.
