Mentioned in ‘The Horowhenua Daily Chronicle’, Thursday, 10 July 1916: Captain Ruby Lee, of the Salvation Army, lately stationed at Brooklyn, was married on Wednesday, July 5th to Captain Oswald Ransom, commanding officer of the Salvation Army in Nelson, and fifth son of Mrs V.C. Ransom, Kent Street, Levin. The ceremony took place at the Salvation Army Hall, Sydenham, Christchurch, Major Newby officiating. The bride, as well as the bridegroom, was in uniform with a white silk sash added and she carried a Bible bound in white vellum. Miss E. Pascoe, of Sydenham, was bridesmaid, and Captain M. Brown, of Leeston, was best man. The guests were afterwards entertained by Mr and Mrs Pascoe. A number of congratulatory telegrams were received from all parts of New Zealand and Australia.
