The Maori arrived in Egypt just in time to farewell the Anzacs to Gallipoli. Peter Buck made an impassioned plea for the Maori to join their white brothers in the fight for the Dardanelles, but they were sent to Malta for training before going to Gallipoli as reinforcements on 3 July 1915.
