Last Tuesday was World Rural Women's Day and to commemorate the occasion the Muhunoa East Branch of Rural Women donated an evergreen magnolia tree to the Levin Adventure Park.

Secretary Doreen Lindsay said the group decided to donate the tree because it thought the park was a good amneity fro the whole community.

"Our aim is to help women and children," she said.

There was also a link between Rural Women and the park's founder Collis Blake.

Mr Blake's mother Hazel had been a life member of Rural Women when the organisation was part of Federated Farmers.

Mr Blake said he liked to see members of the community participating in the park.

"That is how the park has been achieved. We couldn't do it all on our own," he said.
