Description

Thursday March 6th 1873

Place – the same Present – the same

Mr. Cash said

That on behalf of Hoani Meihana and others, he made application for an adjournment.

Mr. Buskley said

That he had been instructed to appear on the behalf of Ngatiraukawa with the permission of the court. Granted.

Mr. Cash

Applied for an adjournment until Monday the 10th March next. His clients desired the adjournment to enable them to consult with their friends who were absent as to the effect of the judgment lately given in Kukutauaki.

Mr. Buskley said

He has good reasons for objecting to an adjournment. The Ngatiraukawa have exercised great forbearance hitherto any misunderstanding on the other side should give them no claim to an adjournment. If assurance will be given that no fresh application will be made for Monday except for a further adjournment. My clients would probably have no objection.

Mr. Cash said

That the application originated with the other side in consequence of a letter received by Te Kupa. The purpose for which the adjournment is asked is a bonafide one but could not pledge himself to ask for no further adjournment.

Court adjourned until 10 am, on Monday next the 10th instant.
