Michael Ransom Parker seated and Alistair Parker with a c1924 Dodge.

Contributor, Gary Jones recalls: When we were small kids we played on a 1913 traction engine parked outside a farm gate in Matai Street. Reputedly, it was one of the first large tractors to reach NZ ,by sailing ship, from the USA. However, Raumati's sandy soil regularly fouled its open sump design and it was eventually abandoned. As teenagers we met the farmer. This led to the discovery of his family's extensive car graveyard (incl. model T to 1930s Ford V8s) in the Matai Street sand hills. With the aid of brand new parts still stored in the barn, Mike got 2 Dodges and a Chevrolet (all c1924) up and running.
