Sidney Hall was a dentist practicing in Levin in the 1920s from premises in the Central Buildings on the corner of Oxford and Bath Streets.

Sidney HallSidney George Herbert Hall is shown as being born in 1871 in Brighton, Melbourne, Australia to father Willian Horatio Hall and mother Annie Forsythe Joisse.

On 13 January 1897 he married Elsie Grace McGiffart [also spelled McGifford or McGiffert] Cleland.

From PapersPast we can see that he worked in Manners Street, Wellington from approximately 1895 to 1908.

In the Electoral Roll of 1911 we find them living in Levin - Sidney is shown as a dentist of Kent Street, Elsie is shown as Elsie Grace McGiffert Hall of Winchester Street, married.

At some time Sidney Hall operated upstairs in Camden House, Oxford Street (a 2 storey brick building built between 1896-1898 for Frank G. Garland) above Levy the chemist and Mr Jhing Lee's green grocer's shop. Mr Hall had a trainee dentist by the name of Joseph Scott with him in 1910.

Elsie Hall gravestone Levin Sidney Hall's wife, Elsie died on 22 September 1942 (aged 68 years) and is buried in the Old Levin Cemetery, Cnr Mako Mako And Tiro Tiro Road, Levin.

Sidney died on 4 November 1957 (aged 87 years) - their gravestone is shown at right - it reads:

In Loving Memory of Elsie Grace McGiffert. Beloved wife of Sidney G.H. Hall.
Died 22nd September 1942 - aged 68 years.

Also Sidney G.H. Hall.
Died 4th November 1957 - aged 87 years.
