F.J. Stuckey, arrived in New Zealand in 1889, in time for the first land ballot in Levin, acquired much land and built the first two-storeyed house in Levin on south- west corner of Bath Street. Later subdivided his land, and Durham, Stuckey and Saxton Streets were formed.

Chairman of the first school committee; one of the first members of Levin Domain Board, and a J.P. One of the first donors of the Banner for the Horowhenua Rugby Union. Died 1902, aged 57.
