involvement and participation in this history book:

• My grateful thanks to Phyl Lash (OSM), (Nursing Sister/Matron of the Maternity Home for 35 years.) for her continuing help, enthusiasm and encouragement throughout the development of this book (and for the coffee and biks that I consumed during visiting while discussing progress,) and for acquiring for the book some really good information from local people. Also, thanks to Phyl for her huge input and knowledge, for the keeping of excellent newspaper clippings which have enabled the closure story to unfold. (As she said to me, with a big grin, aren't you lucky I'm not senile!")

• Janine Rankin, (Journalist/Reporter, Manawatu Standard) for contacting me so enthusiastically after she had found out that the book was in progress. Janine instigated a good write up in the Manawatu Standard. She was a budding reporter/journalist at the time of the struggle to keep the Maternity Home open and it was her first project on her new job.
