A local writer's group dedicated to encouraging aspiring writers.

The Horowhenua writer's Group meets every 1st Thursday of the month at Thompson House in Kent Street, Levin at 1.30 pm. The group will be taking a break January 2010 and beginning again in February. The group welcomes a mix of ages and abilities and runs workshops for aspiring writers. This enthusiastic group have published in the past a total of 8 books: Golden bones, Trees are dancing, Naumai, Art of picking berries, Through a window, Ten fruitful years, Pen in hand and Iridescent Blue. The writer's group was originally started by Grace Hunt and John Moffatt.

On Thursday 10 December 2009 the Horowhenua Writer's Group launched their latest book Titled Iridescent Blue at the Levin Library. This book contains short stories, poems and play by group members. Guest of honour was Brendan Duffy, Mayor of Horowhenua.
