History The Levin Performing Arts Society has been in operation in the Horowhenua for near 100 years, albeit with several name changes and a period of recession. It was formerly known as the Levin Operatic Society.
With 100 members, they tend to concentrate on musical theatre, usually performing two productions a year, one big-name show plus a smaller less known musical or home-grown production.

The Levin Performing Arts Centre was once a dairy factory, but is now a theatre venue the Horowhenua community can be proud of.
To complement their own productions, they bring outside entertainment to the region and the venue is always a hit with visiting groups, mainly due to the good atmosphere the venue adds to productions, which comfortably seats 180 cafe style and 450 theatre style.
They also have a costume hire service which has been built up over the years with costumes from their many productions. The pub
-lic and other theatre societies all over New Zealand are able to make use of this extensive wardrobe.
