Levin's pre-electric era is still recalled by people who saw great changes as poles sprang up in all directions.
Town all lit up:
Levin's streets were lit by electric power a month before electricity was available to householders or other users. This was recalled by a former town clerk, Mr H. L. Jenkins, in The Chronicle's 1956 Jubliee Supplement.
