Stained Glass windows by June Gillies

The panels which adorn the main council chamber are each divided into seven sections.
One window shows the keruru as depicted in Don Binnie's book of native birds, a farmhouse with the Tararua ranges in the background, the Mangahao Hydro power station penstocks at Shannon, the Manawatu Estuary, the Weathersfield ship that was stranded on the beach at Waikawa, the steam train at Tokomaru and market gardens which are a promenant feature of our local landscape.
The second window shows the tui that visit each year (again from Don Binnie's book of native birds, the pine forest at Waitarere Beach witht he sand hils and Tararua ranges behind, the Foxton water tower, fields showing different crop colours, the Hydrabad at Waitarere beach, the railway line which play a part in the development of the Horowhenua and Lake Horowhenua with the historic Haumaria Waka.
