The Evening Post of 26 February 1924 reported:
Store At Ohau Burned Down
The general store at Ohau was totally destroyed by fire at 'one o'clock this morning;. The cause is unknown, as there had been no fire in the premises and nil, was safe when the owner, Mr. H. J. Parsonson. left. The building was owned by Mr. Howard Andrew. The insurances were £600 on the building, £1500 on the stock, and £400 on the plant.
