One of the main buildings, the toilet block, is already being used and the other main building, the kiosk, should be running and equipped with food and drink vending machines by the middle of the month.

During the school holidays the park had attracted a stream of users, including busloads of children ott school trips and passing holidaymakers, she said.


The in-line skating area, partly paid for by Nothing But Wheels, and the beach volleyball areas are completed.

The wire challenge and doubly flying fox should be completed in the next week or two.

A fitness trail has been put in around the perimeter by ihe Levin Rotary Club can be used now.

Ms Malaya said surfaces for grass and the installation of play equipment were now being prepared. Much of the adventure and play equipment including tumbling drums, pentagonal swings and an obstacle challenge structure specially designed for the park would be in by the end of the month.

An enclosed play area for babies and toddlers is also being installed after a lot of fundraising by the Levin Altrusa Club which held a sponsored walk and run in Levin.

A feature of this play area is a play village, also specially designed for the park and built locally.

Ms Malaya said park trustees Collis and Helen Blake and their supporters were pleased with the progress and the level of community support.
