Court opened at 10 a.m.

Hoani Meihana: Stated that what the Rangitane and Ngati Raukawa had done was told to the lawyer but that they had come to no definite arrangement.

Major Kemp: States that the Tribes which he represents are prepared to contest the claim of Raukawa and he will conduct their case. During the last few days we have been considering and have arranged amongst ourselves to bring all the claims. We have made all our arrangements. The Tribes I represent Muaupoko, Rangitane, Ngati Apa, Ngati Kahungunu and Whanganui.

Hari Wirikaki: Stated that they had arranged about their witnesses.

The Court adjourned for ½ an hour in order to allow Keepa to arrange and produce a list of witnesses which would be necessary for the convenience of the Court.

Major Kemp: I have written down the names of several of the persons whom I intend to call but it is not final and as we have come into Court in a hurry and quite unprepared. We now ask the Court to adjourn to Monday to give them an opportunity to arrange their case.

Hari Wirikaki: (Ngati Raukawa) Said he had no objection to the adjournment.

The Court informed the persons interested in the lands before the Court the on Monday 18th Nov. 1872 at 10 o’clock the claims would be gone into and no further adjournments would be granted.
