Shannon Brass Band at Shannon School, 1901 or 1905 1 B&W photo print, copy

Band is playing on grass in front of the school building with some people sitting on the grass while others walk around.

Two possible occasions - a) Flag raising ceremony, July 1901. b) Visit of Rt. Hon. R.J. Seddon, April 1905, to open new classrooms.

Used in book – “From Bush & Swamp”, page 140, with caption - The Shannon Brass Band playing in the schoolgrounds about 1908.

Any use of this image must be accompanied by the credit “Horowhenua Historical Society Inc.”
