The Evening Post 28 August 1901 reported:
Fire at Shannon.
A fire occurred at Shannon last night and destroyed a four-roomed house occupied by Mr. P. Swan. Mrs. Swan and a daughter had to escape in their nightdresses. No other particulars are to hand.
