The Hospital was full, with one patient in theatre and another patient in the prep-room, both in labour. Sister Lash and Jane were on duty. Babies were crying. Sister Lash prepared a bottle, collected the crying baby and handed it to Neville who was in the staff lounge. Neville (who later, became husband to Jane) fed a couple of babies. He was about 17 years of age. The experience did not put him off children, as he produced four of his own later in his life.
After the burglary in June 1981, Jane wasn't too keen on doing night-duty, so called on Neville to be the, "Night Guard" from the staff lounge.
We remember Doctor Teppett calling in at unearthly hours of the night or morning, banging on the back door just wanting to check up on his patients and of course to enjoy his cups of tea.
The water softener is a memory for us also, and having to add salt to it every month.
A Father who had witnessed all his children's births, was in the passage to phone family about the birth of his sixth child when he just simply fainted. Luckily! was walking past and was able to grab his head to cushion it before he hit the floor!

Someone's waiting for a letter,
Do not be unkind,
Take a pen and write that line,
To ease somebody's mind.
It's hard to pick up broken threads,
When once you let them go.
Someone's waiting for a letter,
Somebody you know.
Relieving Experiences At Foxton MaternirOome In 1968I am a Registered Obstetric Nurse, and was working at the Levin Maternity Hospital in Bath Street. One day I was called into the Matron's office. (Sister Blake) She informed me that the Staff Nurse at Foxton was on leave and she wanted me to go to Foxton for two weeks and help out.
I had never been to Foxton Maternity before so I was rather apprehensive. I knew that my first duty was a PM shift. I arrived at lunchtime, introduced myself to the Matron, Miss Archibald, who showed me to the "Nurses Home", a little cottage at the back of the Hospital. Miss Archibald introduced me to her sister who was staying there. I was told, "Get your togs ready and my sister will take you to the beach for a swim before you start
