Jason Collins, 16, the great great nephew of Horowhenua College past pupil Ivan Godfrey Morgan holds the shield presented to the college by the Morgan family last week. It was given in memory of Mr Morgan, a sports enthusiast who, aged 21, died in battle in Italy during World War Two and now lies buried in Ferenza, Italy. Pictured with Jason and the shield is Mr Morgan's eldest cousin Phyllis Parr at a powhiri held at the college last Wednesday. The college kapahaka group sang and kaumatua James Broughton spoke of the close family ties between the Morgans and the college and the supreme sacrifice given by Mr Morgan on December 23, 1944.
