The Ravens were founded in 1994 by Dave Smith and Evan Nattrass. Today the Ravens have 20-30 regular members from as far away as Dannevirke and Levin with a core of its members drawn from the Manawatu. They have close ties with many clubs throughout New Zealand and host one of the country's largest annual medieval gatherings, Easter Campaign, attracting around 150 medievalists.
