Warm And Cosy

My first child was a daughter, born in September 1959 at Foxton Maternity Home. I was given the sun-porch and upon getting into bed after the birth 1 found a hot-water-bottle which was so unexpected and comforting.

Second child Eric, (first son) was born in April 1961. After the birth Doctor Teppett 'phoned my husband and said, "It's one of us!" (Meaning-a boy).

My third child was a girl, born on July 1962.

Twelve years later in May 1974 1 had my fourth child, another son!

All four of my children were delivered by Doctor Teppett.

I do remember Mrs Cocks the cleaning lady who we all used to enjoy having a chat and a joke with.

Thank you Pat Searles

Just keep smiling - it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Staff Memories and Anecdotes

Joycie Cocks:

(Long term cleaning lady of 22 years.)

Phyl Lash remembers the perfectly polished floors by Joyce that no-one else could ever manage to duplicate.

Sister/Matron

1 remember laughter permeating the wards while Joyce was busy cleaning them. She was such a bright person with many a joke and story to share.

Fran Ellis (Former nurse-aid)

The Mystery-of-the, 'Missing.Polish!'

Joyce often complained about amounts of her semi-liquid floor polish being missing. (But unbeknown to her, the nurse aids surreptitiously borrowed some of it to put into the fire-box, to get the cranky hot-water-donkey in the laundry started or restarted!)

It is a wonder that there wasn't an explosion bursting from the laundry occasionally! Nowadays, OSH would be on board fast huh?

Thanks Loma Betty (nee Cocks)
