James Grindell - said I have been instructed to appear on behalf of the Provincial Govt. of Wellington and to produce a deed of the Ahuatiaranga purchase which describes the line and not the Taonui Stream as the boundary - I am instructed to object to the boundary on the East of the Block before the Court - Deed of Conveyance dated July 23/64 put in

Hoani Meihana said that the boundary as described in the Ahuaturanga deed were disputed at the time Mr Buller said that it could be arranged after the natives were anxious at the time that the Taonui Stream should be the boundary - we have talked three times about this matter of boundary. Mr Cooper was present at the last one - and heard me state that the line was incorrect and that Taonui was the natural boundary - Mr Cooper and Mr McLean said let the boundary be the Faonui Stream. A survey was then ordered and made. At the firs survey of this land made the survey 20,000 acres. this plan shows ......

Kooro said I agree that the red line shall be the boundary. We can arrange with Mr McLean about the Taonui Streams. It has been stated that the Native title has been extinguished up to the line (sketch map in his hand) this is the map which shows the boundaries of the land which we understand was sold - There was no dispute about this boundary among the tribes.

Hoani Meihana said the Native Title ...................... up to the Taonui Stream only this is a new line.

Te Kooro said - Te Kerei Te Panau can describe the boundary

Kerei Te Panau said Ohungarea is correctly shown on the plan the line goes through Te Koro a te manu to Kotuku on the line of Ahuaturanga I was at the meeting when the agreement was agreed - I mean the runanga
