Levin Borough has undergone only two major physical expansions since its proclamation by Governor Plunket on April 1, 1906-the aquisition of 336.15 hectares (830 acres) from the county in 1963, and of another parcel of 421 ha (1041 acres) in 1975.

Tararua Jaycee:

Tararua Jaycee were inaugurated on October 8, 1977, with Douglas McKeown as inaugural president. 1979 saw Brian Gilbert take over as president, followed by Stuart Hague in 1980. This year sees John Palmer as president.

Helped found Jaycee:

One of Levin's best known residents during the 1950's was Mr Gordon Sorenson, who helped found the Levin chapter of the Jaycee organisation, then climbed through its ranks to become national president.
