Family came to Tokomaru in 1890 and had a Boarding House in Matipo Street. Alex was a pupil of Gnat Williams Boxing School, Main Rd, Tokomaru & represented Manawatu at NZ Boxing Assoc National Championships in Wellington in 1912 in the Middleweight Class.
