Kawea Pa, Ohau

A former pa (or perhaps village) of the Ngati-Kikopiri hapu situated on the high dunes west of the sandstone upland tract and north of the present road at Muhunoa West, Ohau.

The approximate site of this place is now occupied by or close to the local native burial ground named Morunga.

The name, Kawea, is now applied to the dune-summit on which the former pa stood.
