Trees and gardens in and around Levin and Horowhenua area, photos taken mainly
during 2018 -- 2019

As a keen gardener during the past sixty three years while, working as an electrician, I had the privilege to enter many properties in the Levin, Horowhenua and Manawatu areas. Many of these properties had beautiful gardens, both flower and vegetable. During the earlier times colour cameras weren’t available to photograph them.
Now days during semi- retirement I still have the privilege to enter many properties to work and view many beautiful gardens. Good quality cameras are available to take photos
of them, and record them on Library history programs, so they will be available for future generations to view and enjoy them as well.
Following are some of the photos taken during 2018, mainly around the Levin and Horowheua area,
showing how fortunate we are to have a beautiful town.

Written on the plaque above This statue of a market gardener has been erected to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the early settlers in the Horowhenua District. Market Gardening has played an important part in the development of the district. The first major gardens were established in 1912, and the industry is now a very significant part of the local econony. Presented to the community by by the Roary Club of Levin in 2006. To celebrate 100 years of Rotary 1905- 2005.
