Te Takere begins ... with an open day in the old Countdown building
Kete Horowhenua2020-03-23T16:46:46+00:00On Saturday 2011, the old Countdown building was opened to the public before it began its new life as Te Takere.
People took advantage of the opportunity to see where the Levin Library will be expanding into and to raise any concerns.
A digital fly-over was playing on the projector screen.
Displays were provided by the Levin Family History (genealogy group) and Historical Society.
Outdoors there was a sausage sizzle.
Inside people took part in a speed shelving competition while others guessed the number of nuts in a large jar!
And then the Mayor, Brendon Duffy gave a brief speech before taking a sledge hammer and knoking down part of the old Countdown.
