This photo shows Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company's No.9 at Paekakariki about 1900. Photo: unknown, W.W. Stewart Collection.The No.9 entered service in 1891 at the Wellington and Manawatu Railway (<acronym title="Wellington and Manawatu Railway">WMR</acronym>) Company's Thorndon locomotive depot, Wellington.It was one of two N class locomotives purchased by the company.
