- Description
This artwork is located to one of the "Waka Walls" outside Te Takere, Levin.
The artist writes:
My work relates to an environmental issue of the decline in the bee population. The motion of the girl shows the power of the human race and the control they have over nature. Society abuses the natural world for its own greed.
The blue in the background represents the chemicals that we use and how we are encompassed by our need for control on our environment. The honeycomb effect has in fact statistically become an issue with pesticides being found in the honeycomb structures in France. People don't realise that the small things in life that you don't appreciate and acknowledge are what can make the biggest impact.
