One has only to look at a photograph of Levin, takin in 1905 from a position north of York Street looking south, showing the Manwatu Railwayline and a few rough metal roads, running through a sparsely built up area of tree stumps, left from the earlier milling, to realise the great changes that have occurred during the past 75 years.
