New Roundabout Queen Street and Weraroa Road, Levin
Kete Horowhenua2020-03-23T16:57:16+00:00Location | Cnr Queen St.& Weraroa Road |
Construction date | 30-4-2014 |
Architect | Horowheua District Council |
Constructed by | Higgins Roading |
July 2015
The construction has been completed and the roundabout has been in full use for a few months, the site works have all been cleaned up, footpaths installed to suit the road curbing, signage put up and gardens planted in the vermes .In all the completed project is a very tidy and attractive corner.
The roundabout is a very busy place most of the day, the new system has considerably speeded up the traffic flow. Traffic does not have to stop like in the original compulsory stop days, a lot quieter, no revving motor noise, no screeching brake noise.
A good decision by the District Council to install the roundabout and well-constructed by the "Higgins Road Construction Company".

This hole was being dug just in front of the Tennis Club courts in Queen Street. The different soil stratas can be easily seen. | A surge chamber will be fitted on top off this storm water pipe and a hole cut into it to let the street surface water drain into the system. This photo is interesting that it shows the different soil strata under Levin. |
