Wooden model of Levin’s first Methodist Church (1895)
Model was made by Chris Richards.
Typed information about the church on card with metal clip stand reads: Levin’s First Methodist Church Opened on July 14 1895. Erected on the site where the parsonage now stands (92 Cambridge St.) on land donated by Mr. James Prouse. Built by Peter Arcus, 987 sq.ft. with seating for 120 at the cost of £230 ($460). In 1926 this church was hauled across Cambridge Street to a position south of the Century Hall by traction engine. Night overtook the job when the church was halfway across the road, so it was left there all night with storm lanterns hung around its sides until daylight when the removal was completed.
