The Rotary Club of Levin celebrated its annual changeover night on June 29, 2004 when its new leadership was sworn in and special presentations made.
A large gathering came together-many dressing up for the art deco theme-at Western House Function Centre for what is also the beginning of local celebrations marking the founding of Rotary in Chicago 100 years ago.
The club also took the opportunity to present a Paul Harris Fellowship-named in the honour of the service club's US founder- to a club member expressing appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programmes.
The Paul Harris Fellowship award was bestowed on Geoff KAne, who has filled many roles in the club since joinging 1985.
During the recent February 2004 floods, he and his wife Cynthia provided inspirational leadership and support in helping others deal with the crisis.
Horowhenua Kapiti chronicle editor Bernie Whelan was invited along for the evening and took a camera with him to capture some of our Rotarians and their partners on film.
