Part of the Pelton wheel, against which the high pressure water from the dams will push, turning the attached generator, thus producing electricity.
On page 259, of the book “Horowhenua County and its People”, is written - ... on 3 November 1924, Prime Minister Massey threw the switches…. water from 2 ranges back and from 300 metres above the powerhouse began to spin the massive Pelton wheels.
