Whitehorn family was a musical family. Two first cousins were also killed in WW1. Edmund Charles Knyvett #10/1275 died 16 September 1916 and Charles Edmund Alexander Vivian Knyvett # 35118 died 20 January 1918. WW2 saw another first cousin in battle, Rev Keith Elliott VC.
Walter’s name is also on Hamilton City Public Memorial in the Soldiers Memorial Park and Otaki War Memorial.
