Jean graduated from Teachers College in Wellington? or Christchurch? c1943. She taught at Levin School until December 1949, then Poroutawhao School for 1950-1952. From 1963-1981 she taught at Levin East School before retiring.

Jean predeceased her brother Stewart, but upon his death family donated the collection which had been built by Wilf and Jean, to the Horowhenua Historical Society. Both had been active members of the Historical Society since the society's inception in the 1970s.
