Hands up for the Library

In 2000, Shooting Star grants were made available by Eastern and Central Community Trust for spending in the Horowhenua on large community projects.
The library was lobbying for extra library space and took the opportunity to launch a Hands Up for the Library publicity campaign. This was a 24 hour campaign to collect signatures on a petition to take to Council. Nearly 10,000 signatures were collected, in addition to a large number of A1 posters containing children's handprints, as they too put their hands up for the library.
