Written on back with black ink pen - Once there lived a Sooty man, who was a chimney Sweep. he used to make the chimneys clean, when we were all asleep. He died one day and then they put, his body in the ground. Cabbage tree in flower. They stuffed his brush above his grave, and smoothed the earth all round. at first the brush looked dry and black, but soon it turned quite green. and when the people went to look. a cabbage tree was seen. Short poem by Lilian Russell, written on the back - Once there lived a sooty man, who was a chimney sweep. He used to make the chimneys clean, when we were all asleep. He died one day and then they put, his body in the ground. They stuffed his brush above his grave, and smoothed the earth all round. At first the brush looked dry and black, but soon it turned quite green. And when the people went to look, a cabbage tree was seen.
