This live Society was started in 1910 by Mr G. H. Gibb. Keen interest was shown by members in the debates, and many a lively discussion was held. Meetings were held in the Druids' Hall, till the Society lapsed in 1915 owing to the World War. First president, Mr G. H. Gibb; vice-president, Mr J. Galland; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Clayton; committee members: Mesdames Laurvig, Hensman, Miss V. Wicklife, Messrs Tilling, Judd and W. Law. Other active members were Misses Moody-Bell, H. Mason, Messrs W. H. Gunning, J. G. Barclay, Exall, T. Hensman, A. Saunders, W. Murdoch, Gundy, Langellan, Venn, P. Oag, Trainer, Selby, Ritchie, Eastwood, J. T. Bovis, H. Logan, H. Fargher, C. H. Gardiner, N. Hyde, Rev. J. A. McKenzie and Mrs Gibson.
