Duncan Hill- Artist, cartoonist, poet, teacher and environmental builder
Gidday, kia ora.Well a few things about me-I live in Foxton with partner and whanau on a small but productive bit of land.I am interested in how things and people work-I read widely on diverse topics such as education, engineering, anthropology, history, microbiology, psychology, cosmology.I have a living connection with the tangata whenua-with whom I have formed many productive relationships.
I see the 'village' as a viable model of communal health, where residents are included, valued, have a means of livelihood, healthy shelter, good food and water, and tolerate each others 'meaning systems'(you know, religions, beliefs)So we are trying to rebuild the village out here;theres alot of movement afoot to do something to make things better.Intentional communities are budding everywhere.
At many levels I am active in creating a fairer, sustainable and satisfying life for those around me (and me and my family).
I am a person who believes and lives out a spiritually connected life. Never a Sunday sermon listener, I act as if the world is a holy place. I see that the world is where spirituality is felt and lived out; therefore it is grounded in our daily lives. Like everyone, my life flows out of my beliefs.
I am an artist, a teacher, a poet, a cartoonist and an environmental builder. More recently this last thing has involved me in creating domestic waste treatment systems. At various times I have also been a labourer, youth worker, novice monk, apple picker, farm worker, house builder, parent and home educator.
My interests include tramping, cycling, reading, gardening, farming, music.,
