Levin Pottery Club is a club which operates from a studio in the grounds of Thompson House, 4 Kent Street, Levin.

Guidelines and Information for all members and users

Our clubrooms are rented by the club from Horowhenua District Council.  The club is run by a committee, elected at the Annual General Meeting in March/April.  All members are welcome to attend committee meetings. Committee members can be identified and contacted at the numbers on the members list above the telephone in the clubrooms.

Levin Pottery club is a key-holder club. Any member is entitled to come to the rooms and pot at any time that is convenient for them, subject only to there being no scheduled activity taking place.

Tuition

The club provides formal courses of tuition from tme to time, and informal tutoring throughout the year. In  2009 this happens on Tuesdays between 5.30-7.30 p.m., when members are welcome to drop in, and anyone else is also welcome to observe and inquire. The programme from the end of March through April is:

March 24th Masks - modelling and scuplting faces

March 3st Wheel - beyond the plain pot

April 7th Decorating with slip on leatherhard pots

April 14th Slab work - rims, feet and handles on moulded dishes

April 21st Handbuilding - joining pinched pots together and exploring what to do with them then

April 28 Wheel - rims, necks, spouts and handles
