Dancing is movement to rythm, Sequence Dancing is a structured type of dancing.
In Sequence Dancing all dancers perform the same routine in a 16 bar sequence, this sequence is then repeated until the music ends. The dances include ballroom tempos such as waltzes, quicksteps, foxtrots and Latin American such as rumba, cha cha and tango, with several variations of each dance.
The Horowhenua Dance Club holds dances every second Saturday evening at St. Mary's Parish Church Hall on Manchester Street, Levin. It also meets every Monday evening at the same venue for a club, or practise evening where members learn new dances or revise dances, and have a relaxed evening dancing.
The Horowhenua Dance Club was formed in1963 as the Horowhenua Old Tyme Dance Club, but changed it's name in1993 to more acurately reflect the type of dancing that had become more popular, namely Sequence Dances.
