This photo appeared in the Chronicle on 6 Jan 1973, with the following caption:

"A small white cottage which has been a familiar landmark on the Main South Road is now being demoliished. For some years the cottage was the office of Modern Freighters Ltd but it was replaced several years ago by a modern brick building. The age of the cottage, originally a two room structure with a bedroom and livingroom-cum-kitchen is uncertain, but one of Levin's older residents, Mr R. S. Welby, believes it may have been built about 1901. About 30 years ago another large bedrocrn, kitchen and washing facilities were added to the back area. There are no immediate plans to put the site of the cottage to another use."

Please let us know if you have any further information about this building or its use.
