The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The following business was dealt with:

Resolved, That Rawhini Rota application for erection of fences on County road opposite Harwaiti No 9, be referred to the Committee appointed re county road fencing.

Mr Bright’s offer to renew the lease of County offices was accepted, provided a clause for six months' notice be inserted.

Hakaria te Whena’s request re public pound was referred to a committee consisting of Cr Thompson and the Otaki councillors to report at the next meeting.

Extension of time was granted to W. H. Robinson on contract at Shannon.
Resolved that the Engineer be instructed to call for tenders for the proper completion of contracts Nos 1 and 2, Te Horo, tenders to be in by the 24th, and received by the Committee already appointed re groins in the Waikanae [unclear] river, in two contracts.

Resolved, That tenders be called for the erection of groins to be put in at the Waikawa river crossing. Tenders to be in by noon on Sept. 24th, and that a committee of the Otaki councilors and Cr Thompson be empowered to open and accept tenders.

The tender of Lewis Fisher for cutting variegated thistles for the ensuing year in the Otaki Riding, for £12, was accepted.

The reports of the committee to schedule Native rates and re Charitable Aid were adopted.

Leave of absence was granted to Crs Andrews, Davies and Simcox.

Resolved that copies of Bye-laws No. YA and YB, relating to polluting and obstructing dams and watercourses, be sent to all flax-millers within the Horowhenua County, and that the engineer and ganger be authorized to report any obstruction or pollution at each meeting of the Council.

Resolved, That the formation of the 5 chains of road between Robinson’s and Carmody’s contracts at Shannon be arranged for by the engineer, to be paid for out of Native land rates 1889-90, and that tenders be called for the erection of the foot bridge at Tokomaru, to be in at the next meeting of the Council.
