The presentation of a special flag by the NZ ex-Engineers' Association to the School of Military Engineering, Linton Camp, was made in Levin in October 1958.

It marked the close association between the association and the corps of the Ropyal NZ Engineers.

Shown with the flag are, front row, from left: the Colonel Commandant, Col. A. Murray, OBE, Messrs G. Lee, W.G. Phillips, G.P. Boggs, H.R. (Bub) Bell and the Chief Engineer, Lt-Col. A.R. Currie, DSO, OBE.

History was made on the Saterday afternoon of February 7, 1959, when Levin granted the Freedom of the Borough to the Corps of Royal New Zealand Engineers.
